Family

Emily was Baptized this past Sunday. We were joined by family in friends to celebrate with us this joyous occasion. She was baptized at St. Mary’s, the same church and by the same priest that married Eric and I. It was a very intimate occasion since Emily was the only one that was baptized. Her godparents were David and Liz. Emily was a trooper. She slept for most of the mass and only cried when the water was poured on her. She was very pleasant and attentive to her surroundings. Everyone joined us later at Salsa’s restaurant for some lunch, tres leches cake and margarita’s!

I will say that she must have been very excited since she woke us at 1 and 3:30 am. She ate and fell asleep the first time, but the second time she just wanted to talk to us. The past two weeks she has discovered she has a voice and is eager to share it with us. All we could do was watch her and smile.

I am finally taking some time to update you on how Emily is doing. She is scheduled for her 4 months shots next week. I schedule it the day she had her 2 months shot. After having to hold her down and watch her look at me like I was the most evil person in the world I decided that Eric should have the honors next time. She almost sleeps through the night. She sleeps about 5-6 hours, eats and falls right back to sleep. Eric and I have been taking turns, so in reality it has not been so bad. Eric continues to take pictures of her as much as possible. This baby will have plenty of baby pictures to look through. He even entered her in an iPod picture contest. He didn’t win, but I know he enjoyed taking them. As you can see, from many of the pictures, we enjoy reading to her. She has a mini library, thanks to the help of her aunt Margaret and cousin Amy. One side are all of her English books and another is her Bilingual section. Eric reads to her the English books, while I read to her in Spanish. Her aunt-godmother Liz has tried to read to her in Spanish, although she is still trying to perfect saying “quesadilla.”

We’ve made it to week number 33 out of a possible 40+ week pregnancy. To celebrate, we sprung for a 4D ultrasound of the baby since it wasn’t covered by our insurance. It was worth it, even though the baby wouldn’t fully cooperate. It (that’s its name for now since we aren’t finding out what we’re having) kept its hands and feet in front of its face nearly the entire time. When the baby was blocking our view, its face was smushed up against the uterus which gave us a picture similar to when you try and photocopy your own face. I uploaded the ultrasound photos to my Flickr account, so either click on the image above our click on the Flickr links in the right column.

Elizabeth @ 25 Weeks

Eric and I have started our Lamaze class. I thought it would be a two-week process, but it turns out it’s six-weeks. The first night we were asked to introduce ourselves and tell everyone why we were there. As couples took the floor I quickly realized that I was the only one interested in finding out what medication options I had. Everyone else was putting on a brave face and saying they wanted to have their babies naturally. I should of taken a poll and found out if their minds had been changed after watching the birthing video and finding out that the average first time mother is in labor for sixteen hours!!
