Jason: Now, I really wish I already had my Mac… iSale for Mac OS X

Eric: Damn. Looks nice. I found a couple of other things that would help for ebay… just not as pretty. Man, download.com has a lot of ebay utilities.

Jason: ebay’s Certified Provider Program (not recommended)

Eric: I just found about 6 programs for managing auctions. Just need to see if there’s a list of the better software… maybe on that link you sent.

Jason: These guys are Certified by eBay. Most of them look like they are for businesses.

Eric: Yeah. They pay $3000 a year just for that + $ per person.

Jason: I just checked a few of those companies out and they don’t look like what we are searching for. Completely slanted towards a business.

Eric: Download.com’s auction software listings. I’m checking out the following:

• Auction Lizard ($29.00)
• Auction Sentry ($14.95)
• Auction Sentry Deluxe ($24.95)
• Shooting Star
• All My Auctions ($39.95)
• Omni Auction Builder ($20.00)

Jason: Why don’t you sort by downloads and go through the list that way?

Eric: I sorted a couple of ways (date & rating).

Eric: Those are the ones I could find that were the most appropriate helping sellers.

Eric: so far, all are crap except Omni Auction builder.

Jason: k. Shooting Star looked like it might have promise (from the screenshot and comments).

Eric: Downloaded it, haven’t installed it… just about to.

Jason: This is pretty interesting reading when you get a chance… Discs Are So Dead.

Eric: You need this software if you use shooting star. It looks pretty good as well. The Poster Toaster

Eric: I’ve been following these WebAssist tools for a while (couple of years). I’m about to finally check them out.

Jason: Nice. A little pricey, though.

Eric: Oh yeah. Definately, but, it’s for if you’re running a store, not for us trying to sell a few items on ebay.

Jason: oh ok

Eric: Dang. I wish I had a Mac. That iSale looks awesome now. I downloaded Contribute and setup that free WA Contribute-eBay plugin. It’s awesome, but for ebay stores. Have you gone through the ebay Tool Recommendations?

Jason: nope

Eric: for the 0-10 product, all they list is 4 services… mostly the standard ones.

Jason: Yeah, I saw that. Not exactly useful… then again, they probably want to push you to use thier products.

Eric: ebay’s own free Turbo Lister, looks like a good tool.

Jason: hmmmmmm

Eric: I like the Turbo Lister. There’s no rush to finish and you don’t get a browser timeout. It walks you through everything and it’s basically their same free, online form , but in a managable program. Finally getting somewhere… found some more ebay software, but I don’t have a Mac yet, so I can’t test them:

• cycline3′s CALC
• GarageSale, ($24.99)
• eLister, ($24.95)

Jason: Just checking, any verdict on a worthwhile program?

Eric: So far, the Turbo lister is the safest bet. Omni Auction builder, Star Shooter and Auction Lizzard were also good. I think for what I’m doing for now, I’ll be using Turbo lister.

Jason: And that is the free tool from eBay, right?

Eric: yes

Jason: Does it allow for off-eBay picture storage for auctions?

Eric: It does, but I haven’t dug into any of that section yet.

Jason: I’ll probably look into it this weekend as well. If you can host the pictures on another site, eBay won’t charge you as much to post the auction.
