July 2004

We are a bit behind on our updates, but we wanted to congratulate The La Rue’s and The Lambert’s on the much anticipated birth of their baby girls Lauren Elizabeth La Rue and Emma Katherine Lambert.

Wow my first post. Eric has been asking me to contribute to the site so here is my latest news. Most of you may already know, but my last day at Riviana was July 22. I had worked there for over three years in which I made wonderful friends. I have been accepted to begin training for the Pasadena Alternative Teacher Certification. It only took me 7 months to get a call, but it was worth it. Out of 500 applicants I was one of the 30 they accepted. I went on my first job interview 2 weeks ago and was offered a job on the spot (once you get in the program you still have to interview for a job). I will be teaching 4th grade bilingual class. I am so excited to have the opportunity to go to a job that I will feel I can make a difference. Now I must really get used to being called Mrs. Rasch!!!

Of course you are… you’re reading my blog aren’t you (and if you know what that word means, then you are a nerd). Well, I know you’ve felt something missing from the site and so did I.You know if I’m involved in something then video games will be as well. Fear not! We have TETRIS!!! There’s also Pac-Man, Asteroids & Space Invaders among some other goofy games in the Arcade section. Are you nerd enough to be my scores? Doubtful. Will I ever grow up? The Magic 8 Ball says probably not. Now if I could only find Donkey Kong.

My nephews are extremely talented. One for sports and one for the arts. I’d do just about anything for my family, so when my nephew Sean asked me for a website, how could I resist. This has been one of the funner projects I’ve worked on in a while. Not so much for the content, subject or design, but rather for the quality time I haven’t gotten to spend with him (since they live in Dallas) and mostly for the pure enthusiasm, excitement and enjoyment he seems to have for his new site. I haven’t seen anyone pick up on something so quick (as he does with most everything).

Some of you might remember him as the little man that sang during the ceremony at our wedding (the old man who sang was one of my OLDer brothers, Richard… haha!!).

Everyone remarked then at the talent he has for music. That was just part of it. With the launching of his website, you can now see the visual and written talents he holds.
